Certified Waterproofing

Certified waterproofing in Melbourne, done in-house

We waterproof wet areas to AS 3740:2021, and we do the waterproofing ourselves, not subbed out. The same team waterproofs and tiles your job.

The work that decides whether a bathroom lasts

Waterproofing is the hidden layer under the tile. Get it right and the room lasts for years. Get it wrong and the bathroom has to come up and be done again.

Most tiling problems are really waterproofing problems, showing up two years later as a leaking wall or a lifted floor. The membrane is where the corner gets cut on a job done to a price, because no one can see it once the tiles are on.

Why in-house waterproofing matters

On most jobs the waterproofer and the tiler are two different trades. If a leak appears, each one blames the other.

The Zia Tiling team holds the waterproofing in-house. The same trade that lays your membrane also lays your tiles. One contractor is accountable for the wet area, start to finish. That is the difference a certified waterproofer and tiler under one roof makes.

Waterproofed to the standard, every time

We waterproof to AS 3740, the Australian Standard for waterproofing of domestic wet areas. The standard is the floor we work from, not the target we aim for. On our jobs the membrane is photographed before tiling, so the hidden work is on the record.

Where we waterproof

Bathrooms and ensuites: floors, walls and shower recesses to AS 3740.

Showers: the highest-risk wet area in the home, waterproofed and tiled by one trade.

Laundries and wet areas: compliant membranes under tile.

Balconies and external wet areas: waterproofing for tiled balconies and decks, to AS 3740.

Before tiling on a renovation: we can take on the waterproofing stage of a bathroom build.

Almost always because the waterproofing was cut short, applied wrong or skipped at the junctions. Done to AS 3740 by one accountable trade, it does not.
